As two American hikers explore the Scottish highlands they encounter something not on their map. They discover the lost town of Brigadoon, which resulting from a miracle from God, comes to life only for one day every century. One of the Americans, Tommy Albright, happens to fall in love with a local girl, Fiona MacLaren. The problem is that if Tommy stays in the town for more than a day, he can never return home to New York. Not trusting him emotions, Tommy returns home to his fiancée , Jane Ashton, whom he really does not want to marry. In the end, at the last minute, Tommy cancels his wedding and returns to Scotland. In another miracle, because Tommy's love for Fiona is so great, Brigadoon returns for another brief moment to allow Tommy to enter and never return to the outside world. (Dancing in the show requires some ballet.)

In cooperation

Oklahoma!
The Music Man
In the Fall of 2009 WHCT presented Oklahoma! Rodgers & Hammerstein's first musical collaboration
is by many considered their greatest. Set in
a Western frontier territory just after the
turn of the century, the spirited rivalry between
the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful
background for the tumultuous love story of
Curly and Laurey. Some of the many well-known
songs from Oklahoma! include "Surrey
With the Fringe on Top," "Oh
What a Beautiful Mornin'," and "People
Will Say We're in Love."
Oklahoma! won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama
in 1944, and ran for 2,248 performances on Broadway.
It was revolutionary for the time because it
combined elements of operetta with old-style
musical comedies to produce the first full-fledged
musical play, where all elements contribute
to character development and story line.

WHCT's first production was Meredith Willson's, The Music Man. The
Music Man was presented on November 13 -
16, 2008. Celebrating it's 50th anniversary, The
Music Man was selected for its multi-generational
cast, as well as the singular theme of bringing
music to a town…in our case, the Town of West
Hartford. See below for a synopsis of the show.
