OUR
MISSION:
WHCT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated
to the development of live musical theater in
West Hartford, as well as conducting related educational
programs for adults and children.
- Produce high quality, live musical theater
in Hartford County;
- Provide a safe and open environment for all
members;
- Create a diverse membership of all ages,
specifically encouraging and promoting the participation
of:
a. Seniors,
b. Minority youth and children, as well
as
c. The economically disadvantaged,
in live musical theater including, production,
stage direction, lighting, choreography and
acting.
Our goal at WHCT is to create
the highest quality live musical theater. In order
to accomplish this goal, WHCT depends solely upon
the ability, performance and contribution from
our board and our members without regard to education,
age, gender, race, ethnic origins, physical abilities,
religious beliefs, sexual orientation, gender
identity or other perceived differences. WHCT
values diversity and provides an environment where
shared goals, performance standards and a common
vision of the future guide the efforts of everyone.

INTERNSHIP
PROGRAMS:
WHCT has established an internship program in
the following categories: (1) seniors, (2) minority
youth, as well as (3) the economically disadvantaged.
The program gives seniors and students experience
while helping the theater meet its needs for technical
expertise.
There are up to five (5) internship
positions available each year. The internships
are as follows: (1) assistant stage director,
(2) assistant lighting technician, (3) assistant
sound technician, (4) assistant set designer (construction),
and (5) assistant producer (marketing). WHCT developed
this program, with support from the community,
to help seniors and minority students become involved
in the community and to develop life long technical
skills in the performing arts.
This program enhances WHCT’s
ability to present the highest quality production,
while creating an environment that fosters cross
generational interaction, cooperation and collaboration.
In addition, this program acts as a safe haven
for youth and seniors interested in participating
in the arts. It also provides students with an
opportunity to get vital experience in theater,
and allows seniors to take their skills and provide
guidance to the theater community, at large.
